They named the winery after their daughter, Serene, and their first vineyard on the estate was named after their son, Mark Bradford Evenstad.It’s about finding a fit, not making a sale With the support of their family – and to the surprise of many of their friends in Minnesota – the Evenstads established Domaine Serene, effectively creating Oregon’s luxury wine industry. When the time came to pursue their longtime dream of growing and producing world-class Pinot Noir, they invested in a 42-acre hilltop estate that had just been logged in the beautiful Dundee Hills of Oregon. The Evenstads had faith in Oregon early on, before there was a national market for domestic Pinot Noir. At that time, the couple had spent over 20 years together in Minnesota building a successful business, a loving family, and a deep appreciation for the wines of Burgundy. Grace and Ken Evenstad first arrived and settled in the Dundee Hills in the Willamette Valley in 1989.

He had me as a food runner, bartender, host, private events coordinator, and finally let me in the kitchen too. “Chef Vittorio gave me a chance when others wouldn’t. While in school, he started working at Bistro 5 in Medford, MA. After college, he worked in the finance world till he was 29 and at that time decided he wanted to change careers and attended Le Cordon Bleu Culinary School in Cambridge, MA. During those college years he always worked in the industry but more front of the house, serving and bartending. Nick attended the University of Buffalo and majored in Communication and Psychology. “The restaurant industry is in my blood, from my Aunt and Uncle, to my grandfather who was a cook in the army during WWII, it just always made sense. From there he was promoted to busboy while in high school. His first job was washing dishes at his Aunt and Uncle’s restaurant “The Lyncourt Grille”. Born and raised in Syracuse, NY, Nick started in the restaurant industry at an early age.
